597 Metric Tons of Wheat Arrive in Mandis So Far: SDM Jaspreet Singh

Sri Anandpur Sahib, April 16, 2025 : S. Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister of Punjab and MLA from Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, has directed that farmers should not face any inconvenience in the grain markets. Under the leadership of Mr. Varjit Walia, Deputy Commissioner of Rupnagar, the procurement of wheat is smoothly underway in all grain markets across the district.

In all 12 grain markets of Sri Anandpur Sahib, a total of 597 metric tons of wheat has arrived by April 15, 2025.

Jaspreet Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sri Anandpur Sahib, stated that wheat arrivals in the 12 grain markets of the region have reached 597 metric tons, out of which 558 metric tons have been purchased by government agencies.

He further informed that the lifting of wheat by the state’s procurement agencies has already begun, and the operations are being carried out at a fast pace. As of today, 40 metric tons of wheat have been lifted. The government is committed to ensuring a prompt and active payment system for the welfare of farmers. He assured that the district administration is dedicated to ensuring a smooth and transparent procurement process and urged farmers to bring their produce within the prescribed moisture limit of 12%.

He also mentioned that for the convenience of farmers, all 12 grain markets have been equipped with facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, tarpaulins, lighting, and toilets. Farmers will not face any issues in the grain markets. Procurement agency officials are present in the markets. Jaswinder Singh, Secretary of the Market Committee, stated that arrangements are being continuously monitored to ensure farmers’ convenience.
