873 Drug Smugglers Arrested in Just 100 Days, Announces SSP

Bathinda, June 10, 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government’s campaign “War Against Drugs” is being carried out jointly by civil and police administration. While efforts are being made to educate the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse, those involved in the illegal drug trade are being put behind bars. As part of this campaign, from March 1 to June 8, 2025 (within 100 days), a total of 873 drug smugglers have been arrested, and various narcotic substances have been recovered from them.

SSP Madam Amneet Kondal stated that from those involved in the drug trade in the district, the following substances were recovered: 6.931 kg of heroin, 0.006 kg of smack, 13.670 kg of opium, 873.050 kg of doda, 72,545 intoxicating tablets/capsules, 80 bottles of syrup, 12.021 kg of ganja, 0.008 kg of narcotic powder, and ₹12,59,500 in drug money. In addition, property worth ₹9,71,08,899, earned through drug trafficking since 2023, has also been frozen.

The SSP mentioned that while action is being taken against drug smugglers, continuous efforts are being made by the district police to steer youth away from this menace. Awareness camps are being organized in villages, towns, and cities to inform people about the adverse effects of drug abuse.

On this occasion, SSP Madam Amneet Kondal strongly stated that there is only one place for drug dealers — jail. She warned that anyone involved in this black trade will not be spared. She appealed to the public to report any drug smuggling activity in their area. The identity of the informer will be kept confidential, and strict action will be taken accordingly.
