Fatehgarh Sahib, 27 June 2025 : District Magistrate Dr. Sona Thind, exercising the powers granted under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, has issued orders prohibiting the movement of unauthorized vehicles on the Bhakra Main Line (BML) embankment and swimming in the canal within the limits of Fatehgarh Sahib district.
As per the prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate, it has been observed that people often drive their vehicles on the embankment road built for canal maintenance and are also seen swimming in the canal. The flow of water in this canal is very strong, posing a serious threat to the lives of such individuals and increasing the risk of accidents.
To prevent such incidents, these prohibitory orders will remain in effect throughout the district until August 25, 2025.
