Kejriwal Inaugurates Advanced Sewage Plant, Promises Free Urban Upgrades

8 July 2025  : The Punjab Government today launched the Chief Minister Sehat Bima Yojana (CM Health Insurance Scheme), under which every family in the state will be entitled to free medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh. The scheme was officially launched by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal.

Speaking at the event, Arvind Kejriwal said that within just three years, the AAP government has ensured free electricity, free education, and now free healthcare for the people of Punjab. He emphasized that every citizen of Punjab will be eligible for up to ₹10 lakh worth of free medical treatment under the scheme. The only requirement is that the person must be a resident of Punjab.

Kejriwal further announced that the scheme will be rolled out from October 2, and health camps will be set up in every village and city to issue health cards to residents. To register, only a voter ID and Aadhaar card will be needed. No one will be asked about caste or income.

Each individual will receive a separate health card, which will entitle them to free treatment up to ₹10 lakh. If someone doesn’t have a health card and falls ill, they can still go directly to the hospital with their voter ID and Aadhaar card to get their health card made on the spot and avail the treatment.

This initiative marks another step toward universal healthcare access and aims to reduce the financial burden of medical expenses on the people of Punjab.

Summary:
Arvind Kejriwal launched Mohali’s hi-tech sewage plant and announced free urban facilities like sanitation and lighting across 166 Punjab cities starting December 2025.
