Pay Property Tax by July 31 to Get Full Waiver on Penalty, Interest

Moga,  10 July 2025  : The Punjab Government replaced house tax with property tax starting from the financial year 2013–14. Under this policy, city residents are required to submit a Self-Assessment Return for their property (including plots, houses, shops/commercial buildings, and industrial buildings), which must be filed every year before 30th September.

If a person fails to file the property tax return by the end of the financial year, a 20% penalty and 18% annual interest on the due amount are imposed.

Providing details on the matter, Moga Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Mrs. Charumita, said that the Punjab Government has now provided major relief to the public. If citizens pay their outstanding property tax dues in a lump sum before 31 July 2025, they will get a complete waiver on interest and penalties.

She urged residents to pay any pending dues from 2013–14 onwards by 31 July 2025 to benefit from this scheme. She also encouraged people to take full advantage of the offer and, for any necessary information, they can visit Room No. 03 at Moga Municipal Corporation on any working day.

Summary:
Punjab government offers full waiver on interest and penalty for outstanding property tax if dues are cleared by July 31. Partial relief applies until October 31.
