Jalandhar 15 July 2025 : Fauja Singh, the 114-year-old Sikh runner known as the world’s oldest marathon runner, is no longer with us. He passed away on Sunday in a road accident in Jalandhar.
According to reports, Fauja Singh was out for his daily walk outside his home when he was hit by a speeding car. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in the city in a critical condition, but doctors were unable to save him.
Fauja Singh was born on April 1, 1911, in Beas village of Jalandhar district. Even after celebrating his 100th birthday, he continued to run and participated in marathons around the world. By taking part in the London Marathon, he gave the world a message that passion and determination know no age. Several documentaries were made about his fitness, inner strength, and lifestyle, and he became an inspiration for many young people.
His passing has been mourned not only in Punjab but across the global sports and fitness community.
