25 July 2025 : If you or your family have a Fixed Deposit (FD) with HDFC Bank, this news is extremely important for you. HDFC, one of the country’s leading private banks, has once again cut interest rates effective from July 25, 2025. These changes apply to FDs and savings accounts up to ₹3 crore. Notably, this is the second time in July that HDFC has slashed interest rates.
Who Will Be Affected?
This rate cut will impact all customers, from regular account holders to senior citizens.
- For FDs less than 15 months and more than 18 months, interest rates have been reduced by 0.25%.
New Rates:
- General customers: Interest rate reduced from 6.60% to 6.35%
- Senior citizens: Interest rate reduced from 7.10% to 6.85%
Why the Cut?
This move follows the RBI’s 50 basis point cut in the repo rate, which directly impacts banks’ lending and savings strategies. As a result, interest earned on savings and FDs may now be lower than before.
