Tarn Taran, 13 Aug 2025 : Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran, Mr. Rahul (IAS), today visited the riverbank villages of Gharhkan and Gujarpur, among others, to review the rising water flow in the Beas River and listen to the problems of farmers. He was accompanied by Tarn Taran SDM Mr. Arvinderpal Singh, Executive Engineer (Drainage) Mr. Sahil Kumar, and officials from relevant departments.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner used a drone to assess the water flow in the Beas River and the crop damage in the fields. He directed the concerned officials to prepare a complete report on the crop loss caused by waterlogging in the fields of villages near the river.
Mr. Rahul said that the district administration is maintaining 24-hour monitoring of the Beas River’s water level, and SDMs and revenue department officials have been instructed to stay in constant contact with the public. He assured that the district administration has made proper arrangements to deal with any untoward situation and that people need not panic.
The Deputy Commissioner further stated that flood control rooms have been set up at both the district and sub-division levels in Tarn Taran. He added that for sharing any kind of information, people can contact the district-level flood control room at phone number 01852-224107.
