Authorities impose ban on drone use during weddings and related functions

Faridkot, 20 Aug 2025 : District Magistrate Faridkot, Ms. Poonamdeep Kaur, IAS, exercising the powers vested under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, has imposed a complete ban on the use of drones or other flying objects within the jurisdiction of District Faridkot.

She stated that recently, an attempt was made to smuggle weapons in Tarn Taran district with the help of drones. Therefore, she added, anti-social elements could misuse drones to disturb peace and law and order. To safeguard the lives and property of the general public, orders have been issued to ban the use of drones.

However, she clarified that if any individual wishes to use a drone for weddings, religious, or cultural programs, prior permission must be obtained from the office of the Deputy Commissioner. If drones are used without such prior approval, strict legal action will be taken against the violator.

These orders will remain in force until October 14, 2025.
