Jalandhar 22 Aug 2025 : Acting on the demand of senior Punjab BJP leader and former MP Sushil Kumar Rinku, the Railways has today announced a stoppage of the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express at Jalandhar Cantt station. The train will now halt at Jalandhar Cantt, providing convenience to passengers from the region.
Rinku informed that he had personally met Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and submitted a request to allow the Vande Bharat Express to stop at Jalandhar Cantt station.
For a long time, devotees from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nakodar, Kapurthala, and nearby districts had been requesting direct access to the Delhi-Katra Vande Bharat Express to visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. This demand has now been fulfilled.
According to Railway notification number 701, train number 22439 (from New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra) will now arrive at Jalandhar Cantt at 10:04 AM and depart at 10:06 AM.
Similarly, train number 22440 (from Katra to New Delhi) will arrive at Jalandhar Cantt at 6:51 PM and depart at 6:53 PM.
This decision will benefit not only Jalandhar but also surrounding areas, making travel for devotees and passengers more convenient, faster, and comfortable for visiting Mata Vaishno Devi.
