Jalalabad, 5 Sep 2025 : The Central Government team deputed to survey flood-affected areas of Punjab continued its visit for the second consecutive day today in Fazilka district, covering affected villages in Jalalabad subdivision.
During the visit, Jalalabad MLA Mr. Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy, Divisional Commissioner Mr. Manjeet Singh Brar, and Deputy Commissioner Amarpreeet Kaur Sandhu apprised the team in detail about the damage caused by the floods. Fazilka SSP Mr. Gurmeet Singh was also present on the occasion.
The team reached village Dhani Bachan Singh, located close to the Indo-Pak border, and personally reviewed the situation by traveling on tractors to houses surrounded by floodwaters to assess people’s conditions.
The Central team comprised Mr. Sudip Dutta, Under Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India; Mr. Laxman Ram Buldak, Director, Agriculture; Mr. Prakash Chand, Deputy Director, Ministry of Jal Shakti; and Mr. R.K. Tiwari, CEA, Ministry of Power. They extensively assessed the losses caused to crops, houses, and basic infrastructure.
MLA Mr. Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy also briefed the Central team about the local situation, emphasizing that whether it is floods or conflict with Pak, the people living in border areas always suffer the most and, therefore, deserve urgent assistance from the Central Government in these testing times.
It may be recalled that yesterday the Central team had visited flood-affected villages including Noor Shah, Ghurka, and Kawaanwali Pattan by boat and reviewed the extensive damage caused.
Deputy Commissioner Amarpreeet Kaur Sandhu strongly presented the district’s case before the Central team. Senior officials including Agriculture Director Mr. Jaswant Singh, Superintending Engineer Mr. Gagandeep Singh Gill, Mr. Ranjan Dheengra, OSD (Power) Mr. Narinder Mehta, SDM Mr. Krishna Pal Rajput and Kanwarjeet Singh Maan and Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr. Amandeep Singh Mavi were also present
