UPI Users Can Now Make Large Payments in a Single Click

15 Sep 2025 : Big relief for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) users. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased the limit for high-value transactions by ₹5 lakh, effective from September 15, 2025. Now, verified merchants will be able to process online transactions up to ₹10 lakh per day for payments like stock market investments, insurance premiums, credit card bills, or loan EMIs.

However, the person-to-person transaction limit will remain ₹1 lakh per day as before. The aim of this new facility is to allow users to make large payments without having to do multiple small transactions repeatedly, making the payment process faster and easier.

Under this new facility:

  • Credit card bill payments: ₹5 lakh per transaction, with a maximum of ₹6 lakh per day.
  • Loan and EMI payments: ₹5 lakh per transaction, up to ₹10 lakh per day.
  • Travel bookings: Transaction limit of up to ₹5 lakh at a time.

Users on apps like PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay will get this new limit. However, the apps’ existing daily/hourly limits will remain unchanged.

Summary: UPI has introduced a new feature allowing users to make high-value transactions in just one click, simplifying payments and enhancing convenience for digital banking customers.
