Chandigarh Monsoon Alert Extended Until September 20, Authorities Warn Residents

Chandigarh 15 Sep 2025: Before bidding farewell, the monsoon showed its strength once again. On Sunday, even before the holiday began, clouds started pouring rain from around 5:30 AM. The monsoon drenched the entire city for about one and a half hours, with continuous heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder.

After that, the rain gradually slowed and stopped around 8 AM. During this period, the Meteorological Centre at Sector 39 recorded 28.5 mm of rainfall, while the airport recorded 32.4 mm. In the afternoon, dark clouds gathered over the city, raising expectations of more rain, but no rainfall occurred. The temperature remained below 35°C on Sunday afternoon.

In the coming days, similar spells of rain are expected in the city until 20th September, after which the monsoon will begin to withdraw.
