Severe Cold Expected in Punjab as Weather Pattern Changes

Punjab 22 Sep 2025 : Days in Punjab are gradually getting shorter while nights are becoming longer. Along with this change, slight irregularities in weather are being observed daily. As per the data, the temperature is currently about 3°C above normal, although daytime temperatures remain close to average while nights are relatively warmer.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry for the next 5 days with no chances of rain. Experts say that from the first week of October, a slight chill will set in, which will peak during December–January, causing temperatures to fall by 4–6°C. No rainfall alerts have been issued for any district, leading to reduced humidity. This change may also bring some relief from the sticky heat.

Experts warn that this winter will be extremely harsh—so much so that even quilts and blankets may not be enough. Its impact will be felt across several North Indian states — Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Severe cold waves could make it difficult for people to step outdoors.

Dense fog is also expected to grip North India during December and January, significantly reducing visibility in the mornings and nights. This will directly affect road, rail, and air traffic, adding to people’s difficulties.

The monsoon is likely to withdraw completely between October 2 and 5, after which western winds will dominate, causing a rapid drop in temperature. Experts believe that this winter will not only be severe but also prolonged, lasting until February.

Summary:
Punjab’s weather is shifting sharply, with forecasts warning of severe cold in the coming days. Residents are advised to prepare for the sudden temperature drop.
