Smooth Procurement Operations Continue in SAS Nagar

SAS Nagar, October 24, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal informed that the procurement operations for Kharif Season 2025-26 in district SAS Nagar are progressing smoothly. As of October 23, 2025, a total of 1,38,030 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived in the mandis across the district, out of which 1,37,719 MT has already been purchased by government agencies.

Out of the total purchase, 1,14,608 MT has been lifted from the mandis, marking 94% lifting within 72 hours and 83% total lifting till date, ensuring timely transportation and storage.

Agency-wise, Pungrain has purchased 56,309 MT, followed by Markfed 34,411 MT, Punsup 26,750 MT, Punjab State Warehousing Corporation 16,533 MT, and FCI 3,716 MT.

In terms of lifting performance within 72 hours, Punsup (102%), Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (100%), Pungrain (95%)and Markfed (90%) have maintained an excellent pace, while FCI 35%.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal also stated that the payment position remains highly satisfactory, with Rs 316.41 crore already released to farmers, ensuring 106% disbursement within 48 hours of procurement. Agency-wise, Punsup (109%), Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (108%), Markfed (107%), and Pungrain (105%) have shown exemplary performance in ensuring timely payments.

She emphasized that farmer payments and lifting of paddy are being closely monitored on a daily basis to ensure that no farmer faces any delay or inconvenience.

The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the coordinated efforts of all procurement agencies, the Mandi Board, and district officials in ensuring a smooth and transparent procurement process.

Appealing to farmers, Komal Mittal urged them to manage paddy straw responsibly using crop residue management machinery and to avoid burning stubble, keeping in view the protection of the environment, flora, and fauna.
