Malerkotla, October 28, 2025 : To prevent farmers from burning paddy stubble and to make them aware of the environmental damage it causes, the district administration is conducting awareness campaigns in various villages. Acting under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Viraj S. Tidke, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu today visited village Nathohari and informed farmers about modern methods of stubble management.
On this occasion, agricultural experts gave detailed information to farmers about managing paddy stubble using machines such as balers, super seeders, happy seeders, and mulchers. They explained that burning stubble not only pollutes the air but also reduces the fertility of the soil. The essential microorganisms and nutrients in the soil get destroyed, directly affecting the yield of the next crop.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that stubble burning harms the farmer’s own health and land the most. He encouraged farmers to sow wheat without burning the paddy stubble so that soil quality remains intact. He also informed them that the government has launched the “Unnat Kisan App,” through which farmers can get information and access to stubble management machines with just one click.
He further said that if any farmer faces issues related to stubble management, they should contact their respective cluster or nodal officer. He added that police officers and staff are also regularly visiting fields along with civil officers to ensure that stubble is not set on fire anywhere.
He mentioned that during the awareness camps held in villages, farmers are expressing their commitment not to burn stubble. He assured that this campaign will continue in the interest of both farmers and the environment.
On this occasion, Agriculture Development Officers Maninderdeep Singh, Sandeep Singh, Sub-Inspector (Agriculture) Harminder Singh, and a large number of farmers were present.
Summary :
The Additional Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration is actively monitoring and implementing measures to prevent farmers from burning paddy stubble, promoting eco-friendly alternatives to reduce air pollution.
