Security tightened in Ludhiana ahead of CM Mann’s visit; alert issued

Ludhiana October 29, 2025  : A hand grenade recovered ahead of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s visit has put the police and security agencies on high alert. Following the incident, the administration has increased security threefold. The CM’s event, scheduled to take place at the RTO office, will now be directly supervised by Commissioner Swapn Sharma. Under his direction, DCP Headquarters Snehdeep Sharma and DCP City Rupinder Singh have been deployed on the security frontline.

On Monday evening, the CM’s security team arrived in Ludhiana. The team thoroughly inspected the entire RTO office, checking every point in detail. Security officials also obtained a complete list of RTO employees, specifying who will be on duty during the event and who will be meeting the Chief Minister.

Press conference venue changed, security made top priority
Initially, the CM’s press conference was planned to be held in the parking area of the RTO office, but on the recommendation of the security team, the venue has now been shifted to the front of the main building. New arrangements have been made for this. On Tuesday, the bomb disposal squad searched every room, drawer, and closed gate at the venue. The locks on restricted areas of the RTO office were opened for thorough checking by the security personnel. The security team has instructed that only verified employees will be allowed inside the premises on the day of the event.

Terror suspects and gangster held just a short distance from the venue
It is notable that the three terrorists arrested with a hand grenade, along with gangster Kaushal Chaudhary, are currently being held at the CIA-1 police station — located barely 50 meters from the RTO office. Police personnel are deployed there round the clock to keep watch.

Security tightened from all sides, no lapse will be tolerated: DCP Headquarters
DCP Snehdeep Sharma stated that security arrangements are completely foolproof. Police personnel have been deployed in all directions. “The administration will decide the location of the press conference, but ensuring its security will be our responsibility,” he said. “All points are being checked in coordination with the CM’s security team, and there will be no negligence of any kind.”

Summary:
Ahead of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s visit to Ludhiana, authorities have issued a high alert and increased security threefold to ensure smooth arrangements and prevent any untoward incidents during the visit.
