Sri Muktsar Sahib, October 30, 2025 : To promote proper management of paddy stubble, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sri Muktsar Sahib, under Punjab Agricultural University, organized a district-level awareness camp at the KVK campus. A large number of progressive farmers from various villages of the Muktsar block participated in the event.
Dr. Jagsir Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, attended the camp as the chief guest, while Dr. Karanjit Singh, Project Director, ATMA, was also present. Dr. Karamjit Sharma, Associate Director (Training), KVK, welcomed the guests and farmers and highlighted the various activities undertaken by KVK for effective stubble management.
During the camp, Dr. Manjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), informed farmers about the harmful effects of stubble burning and the benefits of proper stubble management. Dr. Vivek Kumar, Assistant Professor (Crop Science), shared detailed guidance on successful wheat cultivation in fields with stubble. He also provided information about the PAU-recommended machinery for stubble management and the machinery bank facilities available at KVK.
Dr. Jagsir Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer, encouraged farmers to adopt scientific and sustainable stubble management practices. Dr. Karanjit Singh, PD ATMA, briefed the farmers about various government schemes and facilities available to them.
The proceedings of the camp were conducted by Dr. Gurvinder Singh, Assistant Professor (Extension Education), who also extended a vote of thanks to all the participating farmers. During the session, farmers raised several questions related to stubble management and other agricultural issues, which were addressed by the experts on the spot.
