November 17, 2025 : Maithili Thakur, who became famous across the country for her singing, is now making her mark in politics as well. In the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, she achieved an impressive victory as the BJP candidate from the Alinagar seat. At just 25 years of age, she has become one of the youngest legislators in the country.
Who is Maithili Thakur?
Maithili has previously been a part of a popular reality show. Her melodious voice received a lot of appreciation, although she did not win the show. But after entering politics, her popularity has increased even more. Her main sources of income are singing, social media, and brand promotions. According to reports, she charges between ₹5 to ₹7 lakh for a live performance.
Family and Education
Maithili was born on 25 July 2000 in Uren village of Madhubani district, Bihar. Her father, Ramesh Thakur, is a musician and also her first guru. Her mother, Bharti Thakur, is a homemaker. Her two younger brothers, Rishabh and Ayachi, are also associated with music.
She began her early education at home. Later, she was admitted to Bal Bhavan International School in Delhi, where she also received a scholarship. After completing her 12th, she pursued a B.A. degree from Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College of Delhi University.
