November 18, 2025  : Odia playback singer Humane Sagar passed away on Monday evening at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, bringing deep sorrow across Odisha’s music world. He was just 34 years old, according to hospital sources.

Sagar had been admitted to the hospital on November 14 in critical condition with a mix of life-threatening ailments — including multi-organ dysfunction syndrome, acute-on-chronic liver failure, bilateral pneumonia, and heart complications. Despite advanced care and intensive life-support measures, he did not respond to treatment.

Born on November 25, 1990, in Titlagarh, Bolangir district, Humane Sagar came from a musical family (his father and grandfather were music directors). He first made his mark when he won Tarang TV’s “Voice of Odisha” Season 2 in 2012. His breakthrough came with the hit song “Ishq Tu Hi Tu” from the 2015 Odia film of the same name, and he went on to sing hundreds of songs in Ollywood films and albums.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his deep grief, calling Sagar’s death “an irreparable loss” to Odisha’s music and film industry. Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also conveyed condolences, noting that Sagar’s soulful music touched countless hearts.

Amid the mourning, Sagar’s mother made a serious allegation, claiming that her son was forced to perform on stage despite being very unwell. She named his manager and event organisers, demanding justice for the circumstances that she says contributed to his deteriorating health. His manager, however, denied the claims, stating that Sagar did not adhere to medical advice.

Sagar is survived by his wife, Shriya Mishra, whom he married in 2017 (she was also a Voice of Odisha contestant), and their daughter.

His death has left the Odia music community and fans in deep mourning. Many remember him not just for his powerful voice but for the emotional depth he brought to his performances.
