Patiala November 21, 2025: As per the directions of the Hon’ble Health Minister of Punjab, Dr. Balbir Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra has appealed to people to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the severe air pollution. He said that a clean and pollution-free environment is essential for building a healthy society.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kamra stated that air pollution severely affects the health of small children, pregnant women, elderly people above 60 years of age, and patients suffering from diabetes, respiratory problems, asthma, heart diseases, etc. Due to air pollution, issues such as cough, breathlessness, cold, nasal congestion, eye redness, itching, and anxiety can arise. Therefore, small children, elderly people, pregnant women, and long-term patients should avoid outdoor activities. If any health issue occurs, they should immediately seek medical advice and treatment.
The Civil Surgeon further advised that during periods of high air pollution, outdoor activities—especially in the morning and evening—should be avoided. People should use masks while going outside and wear clothing that covers the entire body. A balanced diet should be consumed. To reduce air pollution, manual work should be preferred over machines wherever possible. Use of petrol and diesel two-wheelers and four-wheelers should be minimized. Bicycles should be used more frequently. Stubble (parali) should not be burned, and more trees should be planted.
