In view of the upcoming general elections, December 21 has been declared a Dry Day

Bathinda, December 20: The District Magistrate Shri Shoakat Ahmad Puri has issued orders under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914, in view of the upcoming by-elections and general elections in the district. According to the issued orders, December 21, 2024, will be declared a Dry Day, and there will be a complete ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol.

The order applies to the following areas: Ward Number 48 of Bathinda Municipal Corporation, Ward Number 9 of Goniana Municipal Council, Ward Number 1 of Mandi, Ward Number 6 of Bhairupa, Ward Number 2 of Kotha Guru, Ward Numbers 3, 5, 8, and 10 of Lehra Muhabbat, Ward Number 8 of Mehrraj, and Ward Number 6 of Nathana, where by-elections will be held. The order also applies to the general elections in Ramapura and Talwandi Sabo Municipal Councils.

On this day, a complete ban will be imposed on the sale and consumption of alcohol in shops, hotels, restaurants, clubs, and bars in these areas.
