Ludhiana Municipal Corporation Introduces Water-Based Fogging to Control Mosquitoes

10  Aug 2026 (Navroze Bureau) : The Ludhiana Municipal Corporation has introduced water-based fogging as part of its efforts to control mosquito breeding and reduce the risk of mosquito-borne diseases across the city.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening vector-control measures, particularly in areas reporting increased mosquito activity.

New Fogging Method Introduced

Under the new approach, municipal teams will use water-based fogging to target mosquitoes in residential and other vulnerable areas.

Officials are expected to focus on locations where mosquito populations are high and breeding conditions are favourable.

Focus on Mosquito Control

The civic body’s initiative is intended to complement existing measures such as sanitation drives, source reduction and anti-larval activities.

Residents may also be encouraged to prevent stagnant water from accumulating around homes and neighbourhoods.

Preventing Mosquito-Borne Diseases

Effective mosquito control can help reduce the spread of diseases such as dengue, malaria and chikungunya.

The Municipal Corporation is expected to monitor mosquito activity and expand fogging operations where necessary.

Residents Urged to Support Drive

Civic authorities may also appeal to residents to cooperate with field teams and maintain cleanliness around their homes.

Removing stagnant water from containers, coolers and other potential breeding sites remains an important part of prevention efforts.
