Malerkotla, August 17:
In accordance with the directions of the Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development, Punjab, and under the guidance of District Programme Officer Pardeep Singh Gill, awareness activities were organised at various Anganwadi centres to ensure the health, nutrition and overall development of children, with a focus on preventing intestinal worm infections.
On the occasion, Anganwadi workers informed children and their parents about the health problems caused by intestinal worms. They explained that worm infections can adversely affect children’s appetite, nutrition, physical growth and overall health. Therefore, maintaining personal hygiene and a clean environment is essential for the healthy upbringing of children.
During the awareness activities, children were encouraged to wash their hands with soap before eating and after using the toilet, consume clean drinking water, thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables before eating, and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings. They were also advised not to walk barefoot and to pay special attention to personal hygiene.
Parents were urged to remain vigilant about their children’s health and follow the guidelines issued by the Health Department to prevent intestinal worm infections. They were also advised to ensure that their children receive deworming medication as recommended by the Health Department, wherever required.
The organisers appealed to the public to make personal hygiene, proper nutrition and healthcare an integral part of daily life to ensure the healthy growth and development of children.
