Fazilka, September 22, 2026:
In accordance with the directions issued by the Punjab Government, the Punjab Pollution Control Board, Faridkot, organized a training session for all Cluster Officers at the Municipal Council Office, Jalalabad, regarding the prevention of burning paddy straw/crop residue. Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Jalalabad, Kanwarjit Singh, along with officials from various departments, participated in the training.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kanwarjit Singh stated that, under the directions of Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Ms. Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, a total of 18 Cluster Officers have been appointed in the Jalalabad Sub-Division. Nodal Officers from various departments have also been appointed under these Cluster Officers.
He directed all Cluster Officers to ensure daily visits to the villages under their jurisdiction that have been alerted, as paddy harvesting has already commenced. He further instructed them to maintain close coordination with their respective Nodal Officers and establish contact with the concerned village panchayats and residents. They should make people aware of and motivate them not to burn paddy straw/crop residue.
He emphasized that all Cluster Officers must undertake this responsibility with utmost seriousness and dedication and ensure that daily action is taken to prevent stubble burning.
