Health Risks of Drinking Reheated Tea

Reheated Tea

Chandigarh, 23 January, 2025: Today’s fast-paced life has changed people’s routines. In such a situation, people are neglecting their eating habits. However, they never forget to sip on tea. They don’t have a fixed time to drink tea. As a result, it is often seen in homes that people prepare tea once and then keep reheating and drinking it. Have you ever wondered what impact reheating and drinking tea repeatedly can have on your health? What are the harms of drinking tea after reheating it multiple times?

According to experts, most people in India start their day with tea. But sometimes, due to laziness, we end up making a large quantity of tea at once and reheat it at different times. However, doing so is not good for health. This habit can cause harm to your health.

Harms of Drinking Tea After Reheating Multiple Times:

  1. Change in Taste:
Dietician Preeti Pandey says that reheating tea multiple times changes its taste, making it spoil. Along with this, its fragrance also disappears. These two aspects are the defining qualities of tea. Additionally, reheating tea decreases its nutritional value.
  2. Harmful for Health:
Drinking tea that was made a long time ago and reheated is harmful to health. Microbial growth starts in the tea, and mild bacteria can form, which is harmful to health. In fact, when making milk tea at home, a large quantity of milk is used, which increases the risk of microbial contamination.
  3. Stomach Problems:
According to experts, repeatedly reheating herbal tea destroys its nutrients. Drinking such tea can cause stomach problems. In such cases, you might experience indigestion, stomach pain, and bloating.
  4. How to Drink Tea for Better Health:
If you reheat the tea within 15 minutes of preparing it, it doesn’t cause much harm to your body. However, reheating it after a longer period can be harmful. Therefore, always make only as much tea as you can consume at that time.

Summary: Repeatedly reheating tea can lead to the loss of nutrients and increase the formation of harmful compounds, potentially affecting your health.
