This is the first time in Indian history that a train has reached Delhi, the capital of the country. The government has taken such a step with the aim of reducing the rising prices of onions. This is a big gift from the Modi government in the festive season for businessmen and common man. The government is trying to reduce onion prices before Diwali. For this, a decision has been taken to supply 1600 tonnes of onion to the wholesale markets of Delhi with the help of Indian Railways. A special train named Kanda Express from Lasalgaon railway station in Maharashtra has reached Delhi late at night.
That will be the price of onion
The Kanda Express train arrived at Delhi’s Kishanganj railway station late at night with onions. Onions have come to Delhi loaded in 42 coaches of the train from Nashik. Once the onions reach Delhi, 2,500 to 2,600 tonnes of onions will be supplied daily to the markets of Delhi and its surrounding areas. Common people will get onion in the market at the rate of Rs 35 per kg. Let us tell you that at present the price of onion in the retail market of Delhi is more than 75 rupees per kg. Recently, Consumer Affairs Secretary Nidhi Khare gave information about this.

Similar arrangements will be extended to North-Eastern states including Lucknow, Varanasi, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. The government is also in talks with Concorde for sealed container transport to reduce onion losses in transit. To provide relief to the common people, the government will distribute onions through mobile vans, NCCF and NAFED before Diwali. Let us tell you that for the first time in India, onions have been brought by train. When the Kanda Express train arrived at Delhi’s Kishanganj railway station carrying onions, the officials of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs welcomed the train.
