Second US Deportation Flight Arrives in Amritsar Tonight with 67 Punjabis

Amritsar, February 14: A special flight from the United States carrying 119 deported Indian nationals is expected to arrive at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar late tonight, police officials confirmed on Friday.

This is the second US flight carrying deportees back to India following a crackdown on illegal immigrants by the Donald Trump-led US government.

According to sources, the majority of deportees are from Punjab, with 67 individuals returning to the state. Haryana follows with 33 deportees, while Gujarat accounts for 8. Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan each have a smaller share, with 3, 2, 2, and 2 individuals respectively.

Additionally, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir each have one returnee on this flight.

A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and proper security and procedural arrangements have been made at the airport. Immigration officials, police personnel, and representatives from the Ministry of External Affairs will be present to process the returnees upon arrival.

The officer also disclosed that another deportation flight from the US is expected to land in Amritsar on February 16, carrying more Indian nationals.
