Chandigarh 5 march 2025 : After almost 6 months, farmers are once again preparing to stage a permanent protest in Chandigarh. The farmers plan to surround the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. To prevent the farmers, Chandigarh’s SSP Kanwardeep Kaur has taken charge. All entry points to Chandigarh have been sealed, and heavy police force has been deployed with barricades. To stop the farmers, 2500 police personnel will be stationed throughout the city. In addition to 1200 personnel at 12 special checkpoints, SHOs and DSPs will also be present. The SSP has stated that everything possible will be done to stop the farmers, but no farmer should be allowed to enter the city. She has also ordered all the officers on leave to return. All police personnel will be on duty from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Affected areas: The affected areas include Zirakpur Barrier, Faidan Barrier, Sector 48/49 Dividing Road, Sector 49/50, Sector 50/51 (Jail Road), Sector 51/52 (Matour Barrier), Sector 52/53 (Kajheri Chowk), Sector 53/54 (Furniture Market), Sector 54/55 (Badheri Barrier), Sector 55/56 (Palsora Barrier), Naya Gaon Barrier, and Mullanpur Barrier.
