Rupnagar, March 24: Under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Election Officer, Rupnagar, a meeting was held with all recognized political parties of the district. The discussion focused on voter lists, election conduct, BLA (Booth Level Agent) appointments, and other election-related matters as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.
The representatives of political parties were informed about the revision of the voter list and the final publication date, which is set for January 7, 2025. Additionally, details regarding polling stations, polling locations, and the total number of voters in the district were shared.
The Additional District Election Officer provided information on increasing voter registrations, particularly for young voters aged 18 to 19 years, and outlined the eligibility dates for voter registration: April 1, July 1, and October 1.
All political parties were urged to appoint one Booth Level Agent (BLA) per polling station in Rupnagar district and submit the list to the office as soon as possible.
Furthermore, a discussion was held regarding the resolution of complaints, and information was provided about the voter helpline number 1950.
Representatives of all political parties assured their commitment to fully complying with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India from time to time.
The meeting was attended by representatives of recognized political parties, including Surjan Singh (Aam Aadmi Party), Bhupinder Singh (Congress), Jarnail Singh Bhauwal (BJP), Charanjit Singh Ghai (BSP), and Gurdev Singh Bagi (CPI(M)). Other attendees included Shri Palwinder Singh (Election Tehsildar), Mandeep Singh (Clerk), Akashdeep Singh (Clerk), and Varinder Singh (Clerk), along with several other officials from the District Election Office.
