Court Orders Takedown of Video on Senior Police Officer

Ludhiana 10 April 2025 : Judicial Magistrate Vibha Rana’s court has ordered social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and X to immediately remove a controversial video related to a senior police officer.

The court directed these platforms to take down the video in which the senior police officer is allegedly shown in an inappropriate manner, engaging in obscene conversation with a woman over the phone. While issuing the order, the court stated that no individual, group, page, handler, or digital entity shall post, repost, tag, upload, or circulate such defamatory content in any form, especially if it is unverified, lacks authenticity, or is intended to harm or defame the reputation of any individual or institution—particularly in the context of a law enforcement agency.

The court concluded that the content had been digitally edited with the intent to present it in a misleading manner. The order was passed following a petition filed by a social activist. The court also directed that all such controversial videos and posts be removed and instructed that no re-upload, repost, tag, or similar content should be allowed to be posted or circulated on these platforms.

Summary: A court has directed the removal of an online video concerning a senior police officer, citing legal and reputational concerns.
