Moga, April 10 : Deputy Director of the Animal Husbandry Department, Moga, Dr. Harveen Kaur Dhaliwal stated that the Punjab Government, in an effort to regulate the trade of pet animals, birds, and dogs, and to ensure their welfare, has made it mandatory under the Dog Breeding and Marketing Rules-2017 and Pet Shop Rules-2018 that all shopkeepers, breeders, and online traders involved in the buying and selling of dogs and cats must register with the Punjab Animal Welfare Board.
She further mentioned that anyone violating these rules will be subject to penalties and punishment as per the regulations.
Dr. Harveen Kaur also informed all concerned shopkeepers and breeders to contact the Deputy Director, Animal Husbandry Department, Moga at mobile number: 9915067067 and ensure their registration as soon as possible.
Additionally, the Deputy Director appealed to the residents of the district to ensure that before purchasing any pet, they verify that the shop/breeder is registered with the Animal Welfare Board.
