Bharatgarh, April 11 : Punjab’s Education Minister, Harjot Singh Bains, stated that the education revolution is reshaping the image of a transforming Punjab. Thousands of government schools in Punjab have undergone major improvements. Students in government schools no longer sit on bare floors; boundary walls have been completed, modern science labs have been established, teachers are regularly attending, and transport facilities have been arranged by appointing campus managers and security guards. Government schools in Punjab are now capable of competing with convent and model schools.
Today, Education Minister Harjot Bains was addressing students, parents, and local residents after inaugurating a newly constructed boundary wall at the Government Primary Smart School in Bada Pind Lower, completed at a cost of ₹4.4 lakhs. He is on a special visit to inaugurate completed development works worth crores of rupees in 12 government schools in his constituency of Sri Anandpur Sahib.
He shared that classroom renovation at Government Primary School Hardoheripur cost ₹6.02 lakhs, boundary wall construction at Government Primary School Hardo Nirmoh Upper was done with ₹3.80 lakhs, and the boundary wall at Government Primary School Atari cost ₹17.6 lakhs. At Government Senior Secondary School Atari, a boundary wall, science lab, new classroom, and room repairs were completed with ₹35.32 lakhs. A holistic plan foundation stone was laid at Government Primary School Pirthipur at a cost of ₹40 lakhs, and a basketball ground foundation stone was laid at Government High School Pirthipur for ₹5.7 lakhs. Renovation of classrooms at Government Primary School Nirmohgarh was done with ₹12.55 lakhs. A boundary wall was inaugurated at Government Primary School Hardo Nirmoh Lower with ₹3.8 lakhs. Classroom renovation at Government Primary School No Lakkhan was done for ₹2.55 lakhs, and a boundary wall was inaugurated at Government Middle School No Lakkhan with ₹6.75 lakhs. Government Primary School Dadhi was repaired and renovated at a cost of ₹2.55 lakhs.
Today, inauguration events for completed development works are being held in 410 government schools across Punjab. Similar programs are taking place in every district. The Education Minister also announced an additional ₹20 lakh for the development of the Government Primary Smart School in Bada Pind, saying that there is no shortage of funds to strengthen the standard of education. He emphasized that the goal is not merely to inaugurate, but to visit government schools, interact with students and parents, understand their issues, and gather suggestions. When senior district officials attend such events, it inspires students to move ahead.
The Education Minister shared that he is personally visiting government schools in border areas. After touring schools in the Khemkaran region, he closely examined the challenges there. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is running an education revolution campaign to reform education across the state. First, principals and head teachers were given training for educational reforms. Now, the focus is on developing infrastructure, making the school environment more student-friendly.
He further informed that work has begun today on the link road near Bharatgarh Highway, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local residents.
On this occasion, PCS Jaspreet Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sri Anandpur Sahib, said that students of Punjab’s government schools are now progressing ahead of students in model schools.
District Education Officer (Primary) Shamsher Singh, Deputy District Education Officer Ranjna Katyal, Retired Lecturer Daya Singh, Block President Jujhar Singh, BPO Inderpal Singh, CHT Amarjit Singh, Principal D.N.I.S.H Bhatti, Sarpanch Dalwinder Kaur, Ajit Singh, Simranjit Singh, Sukhjinder Singh, Sarpanch Didar Singh Beli, Jagir Singh (Block President), Aman Beli, Harminder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, and Sarpanch Karnail Singh were also present in large numbers.
