Ferozepur, April 22, 2025 : Under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has launched the “War Against Drugs” campaign to completely eradicate drugs from the state. Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur, Dipshikha Sharma, a grand awareness rally was organized today by the district administration to intensify the campaign and enhance public awareness across the district.
The rally was flagged off by Ferozepur City MLA S. Ranbir Singh Bhullar and SDM Divya P from the Cantonment Stadium in Ferozepur. It proceeded through various locations and concluded at Gurdwara Saragarhi Sahib. Before the rally began, students and other attendees at the stadium took an oath to stay away from drugs and support this campaign. Ferozepur SSP S. Bhupinder Singh Sidhu was also present on the occasion.
MLA S. Ranbir Singh Bhullar stated that while the Punjab government is prioritizing strict action against drug traffickers, awareness activities are being conducted on a large scale across the district under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dipshikha Sharma and SSP Bhupinder Singh. He noted that due to the increasing pace of the campaign and the active role of relevant departments, the number of people quitting drugs has gone up. He appealed to anyone trapped in addiction who wishes to recover to contact the district administration, de-addiction centers, OST clinics, or the concerned authorities for proper assistance.
In today’s rally, various departments, social organizations, NGOs, and students carried banners and placards to raise grassroots-level awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.
He added that over 5,000 participants, including students, panchayat members, sarpanches, representatives of social service organizations, administrative staff, youth clubs, and local residents enthusiastically took part. This clearly shows that people are standing shoulder to shoulder with Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann in the fight against drugs. Alongside the civil and police administration, departments like health and education are also playing an active role in the “War Against Drugs” campaign by organizing regular camps, awareness seminars, plays, speeches, songs, paintings, and sports competitions to inspire school students and the public to support the mission and stay drug-free.
SDM Divya P. mentioned that students from Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University, Punjab University Constituent College, Dev Samaj College, RSD College, Guru Nanak College, SBS Nursing College, Genesis Dental College, and over 15 government and private schools participated in the rally. She said that the district administration will honor these students with appreciation certificates. At the end, SDM Divya P. expressed gratitude to all participants.

Komal Arora, LDM Geeta Mehta, Education Coordinator Raj Bahadur Singh Gill, Vocational Coordinator Ashwinder Singh, Akash Kumar, Gagan Mata, Sunil Sharma, Himanshu Thakkar, Manpreet Singh from District Red Cross Society, along with panch/sarpanch representatives, educational institutions, youth organizations, and NGO representatives.
