Bathinda, April 28, 2025: As of April 27, 2025, a total of 668,401 metric tons of wheat have arrived at the various grain markets in the district, out of which different procurement agencies have purchased 608,040 metric tons of wheat. Additionally, farmers have been paid ₹1,250.14 crores for the wheat procured. The procurement of wheat in the district’s markets is ongoing without any disruption. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner Shri Soukat Ahmad Pare.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the officers to expedite the ongoing wheat procurement and lifting process in the district. He also directed them to make necessary arrangements for drinking water, cleanliness, and other requirements for farmers in the markets. He emphasized that no delay or negligence would be tolerated during the wheat procurement process.
Providing further details, District Food and Supply Controller Dr. Ravinder Kaur shared information about the wheat purchased by various agencies up to April 27. The purchases included 189,682 metric tons by Pangreen, 131,264 metric tons by Markfed, 136,830 metric tons by Punsap, 102,307 metric tons by Warehouses, and 47,957 metric tons by private traders.
