Bassi Pathana/Fatehgarh Sahib, May 16 – On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind, a joint surprise inspection of school vehicles was conducted in the district by the team of the RTO office and the District Child Protection Officer. During the inspection, the teams not only checked the documents of school vehicles but also ensured compliance with the standards set under the Safe School Vehicle Policy.
Sharing details of the inspection, District Child Protection Officer Harbhajan Singh Mehmi stated that, under the guidelines of the District Level Safe School Vehicle Committee, surprise inspections of school buses are carried out regularly. He mentioned that if any school management is found not operating their buses according to the rules, challans (penalties) are issued to them.
On this occasion, ADTO Pradeep Kumar informed that the inspection team checked eight school buses around Bassi Pathana, out of which four were found to have irregularities. He stated that challans were issued for these school vehicles and strict compliance with regulations has been instructed for the future.
He also emphasized that it is mandatory for school buses to have CCTV cameras and a female attendant must be present on every bus carrying girl students. Additionally, he mentioned that the heads of schools under the education department are being instructed to ensure their school buses are in compliance with the policy.
