Chowk Mahita, 13 June 2025: A major relief has come for the people of the rural areas of the Jandiala Guru constituency as the bus service on the Mahita to Amritsar route has resumed. This bus service was flagged off by Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. from Mahita towards Amritsar.
On the occasion, Minister Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. stated that this bus service had been discontinued for a long time due to a shortage of drivers. However, after new recruitments by the government, this public transport service has been restarted, which will bring great convenience to the people. He further informed that the bus will travel from Mehta Chowk through Nangal, Suroopda, Nath Di Khui, Jalal Usma, Mahishampur, Saidpur, Kothiyat, Singhpura, Jaspal, Dairywal, Sarja, Dhulk, Baniya, Chauhan, Tangra, Mallian, Jandiala Guru, and Manawala before reaching Amritsar, benefitting dozens of villages along the way. It will also be a great help for school and college students commuting daily.
The bus will depart from Mahita every morning at 6:30 AM and reach Amritsar by 8:30 AM, and will return from Amritsar at 3:30 PM to reach Mahita by 5:30 PM.
The minister also mentioned that especially women holding Aadhaar cards will benefit greatly from free travel on this route. He added that their government is truly a people’s government, and it is their duty to prioritize the welfare of the common public to ensure they do not face any inconvenience.
