Punjab 10 July 2025 : The special session of the Punjab Assembly began at 11 AM. During the session, tributes were paid to departed souls. Among those remembered were Taran Taran MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal, former Union Minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, writer Dr. Ratan Singh Jaggi, martyr Nayak Surinder Singh, Baljit Singh, and the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash.
During this session, the Abohar murder case also echoed in the House.
AAP’s Punjab President Aman Arora expressed condolences for those who died in the Ahmedabad plane crash and raised the issue of the murder of Abohar-based cloth merchant Sanjay Verma, urging the House to pay tribute to him as well.
Leader of the Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa stated that Sanjay Verma was killed merely because the Lawrence gang claimed he didn’t take their threats seriously.
Following this, Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan led the House in paying tribute to all the deceased, and a two-minute silence was observed.
It’s worth noting that the first day’s session lasted only 11 minutes, after which proceedings were adjourned until 10 AM on July 11.
This special session has been convened specifically to introduce a strict law on sacrilege incidents.
