Malerkotla,28 July 2025 : Under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu, a meeting was held with heads of various departments to review the preliminary arrangements for the district-level Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2025. The meeting was attended by ADC (D) Rimpi Garg, SDM Malerkotla/Ahmedgarh Gurmeet Kumar Bansal, DSP Ranjit Singh, District Revenue Officer Mandeep Kaur, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Sajeela Khan, PWD Executive Engineer Parneet Kaur Tiwana, District Sports Officer Gurdeep Singh, Naib Tehsildar Reetu Kapoor, Functioning Officer Apar Apaar Singh, Child Protection Officer Harpreet Kaur (Malerkotla), and other officials and staff members.
Presiding over the meeting, ADC Sidhu stated that, as in previous years, the Independence Day celebration will be organized with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the Dr. Zakir Hussain Stadium. He emphasized that it is a shared responsibility of all departments to ensure that the event is celebrated with zeal, passion, and sincerity. He instructed that all arrangements should be carried out in an organized and aesthetically pleasing manner.
He informed that preparations for the event will be closely monitored under his supervision. All officials were directed to ensure that the theme of the event reflects patriotism and showcases the cultural heritage of the nation and the state. The District Education Officer was asked to begin preparations for a cultural program based on this theme and ensure the participation of students from as many schools and colleges as possible. He also directed that rehearsals for the program should be conducted at Dr. Zakir Hussain Stadium. Moreover, Independence Day functions should also be held at sub-divisional levels in addition to the district headquarters.
He added that on this occasion, freedom fighters, achievers in fields like sports and education, and dedicated and hardworking officers and employees will be honored.
Police officials were instructed to ensure proper arrangements for traffic flow and parking to avoid any inconvenience to the public during the event. The Functioning Officer was directed to make solid arrangements for cleanliness and defogging at the stadium. The Civil Surgeon was asked to deploy a team of doctors at the event venue and ensure sampling and inspection of food items being sold there.
