Gurdaspur,28 July 2025 : In a unique initiative, the district administration of Gurdaspur is organizing the ‘Umeed Bazaar’ on August 2 and 3 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Old Bus Stand, Gurdaspur. The aim is to provide a platform to women working with rural and urban Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to showcase and sell their products. Alongside, progressive farmers of the district will also set up special stalls to sell their agricultural produce.
To ensure the success of the event, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Harjinder Singh Bedi, IAS, and SDM Dera Baba Nanak S. Jaspinder Singh Bhullar, IAS, held a meeting with concerned officials. They instructed the teams to fulfill their duties with full dedication and complete all necessary arrangements in time.
The ADC shared that women from various SHGs and progressive farmers will set up stalls to sell their homemade products and farm produce. These goods, prepared by hardworking women at home, are of high quality and reasonably priced. The initiative also gives farmers a direct platform to sell their crops and harvest.
The Umeed Bazaar will run from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on both days. For children’s entertainment, rides and food stalls will also be set up during the fair.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner appealed to the residents of the district to visit the Umeed Bazaar on August 2 and 3 and shop from the stalls to support the hard work of local women and farmers by helping them earn the true value of their efforts.
