Fatehgarh Sahib, March 25 : Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Shri Harpreet Singh held a meeting of the District Health Society at the District Administrative Complex today, where he reviewed various schemes and performance reports of the health department.
Shri Harpreet Singh directed the Civil Surgeon and Food Safety Department officials to conduct regular inspections of food adulterators and collect samples of milk, curd, and paneer. He emphasized that strict action should be taken against those involved in food adulteration. He stated that the Punjab government is running a large-scale campaign to provide pure food products to the public and to crack down on those endangering public health.
ADC Harpreet Singh instructed Civil Surgeon Dr. Davinderjeet Kaur to launch an awareness campaign to protect people from mosquito-borne diseases during the summer season. He also directed health department officials to educate people about creating their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs to reduce long queues in hospitals. He emphasized the importance of generating maximum ABHA IDs for district residents, enabling doctors and concerned individuals to access patients’ medical histories when needed.
He further instructed officials to impose maximum fines on shopkeepers and individuals violating the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA).
Shri Harpreet Singh also urged health department officials to involve private de-addiction centers in the state’s anti-drug campaign. He stressed that the performance of these private centers should also be included in the reports submitted under the campaign.
The meeting was attended by District Immunization Officer Dr. Rajesh Kumar, District Family Welfare Officer Dr. Daljeet Kaur, District Health Officer Dr. Amandeep Singh, District Program Manager Kshitij Seema, District Mass Education & Information Officer Baljinder Singh, Jaswinder Kaur, Superintendent Darshan Singh, all SMOs, and other department officials.
