Bathinda, 15 July 2025 : Priority should be given to opening bank accounts for Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and issuing self-help loans to them on a priority basis to help start small businesses. These remarks were made by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Madam Kanchan during an interaction with bank managers and officials after a special training session on enterprise financing held at the local Zila Parishad.
On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner directed branch managers to issue receipt acknowledgments to SHGs upon receiving CCL (Cash Credit Limit) files. Shri R.K. Arora, National Resource Person from the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad, gave detailed information during the training session on topics like RBI’s new circulars, SHG grading, bank linkage, digital finance, financial literacy, and insurance.
District Program Manager Sukhwinder Singh Chattha urged the bank managers to consider the economic and mental status of SHG members while providing finance and to avoid delays in their services.
A total of 51 branch managers and officers from SBI, PNB, Punjab and Sind Bank, Punjab Gramin Bank, Canara Bank, and UCO Bank participated in the training.
Also present were FI Incharge Gagandeep, Block Program Managers Baljeet Singh and Gurpreet Kaur, Office Attendant Navdeep Kumar, and Kulwinder Singh, among others.
