Airlines announce fixed fares for festive season, no ticket price hike

October 14, 2025 : The government-owned regional aviation company Alliance Air has launched a new initiative aimed at providing relief to air travelers from frequent fluctuations in airfares. On Monday, Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu inaugurated this scheme, named “Fare Se Fursat” (Freedom from Fare Hikes).

What is the “Fare Se Fursat” Scheme?

According to the official statement, the main highlight of this scheme is that it will offer passengers fixed and stable fares for their flight tickets.

  • Fixed Fare: Under this plan, the price of a ticket will not depend on the booking date or the day of the flight.
  • Last-Minute Relief: This means that passengers buying tickets at the last minute will not face increased prices, ending the problem of being forced to purchase expensive tickets due to urgency.

Implemented on a Pilot Basis

For now, the scheme is being implemented as a pilot project.

“Freedom from Fare Hikes is Here!

#AllianceAir proudly launches #FareSeFursat, a revolutionary fixed-fare promise.
Book your flight anytime—even on the day of departure—and the price remains constant and low!
This is the promise of #NayeBharatKiUdan.”

  • Duration: The scheme will be applicable on selected routes from October 13 to December 31, 2025.
  • Objective: The company will evaluate its operational viability and passenger feedback before extending it further.

Currently, India’s airfare system follows a demand-based model, where prices change based on demand, flight timing, and competition. This often forces passengers to buy highly expensive tickets at the last minute.

Benefit to the General Public

Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu stated that the “Fare Se Fursat” initiative aligns with the core principles of the government’s UDAN scheme, which aims to make air travel accessible to common citizens.

  • Affordable Travel: He emphasized, “This initiative makes air travel more affordable for the middle class, lower-middle class, and emerging middle class.”
  • Public-Service Focus: Naidu called Alliance Air the “backbone of the UDAN scheme” and said that the concept of “One Route, One Fare” reflects a public service–oriented approach, going beyond profit motives. It truly symbolizes the “New India’s Flight” vision.

As of August 2025, Alliance Air held a 0.3% share in the domestic aviation market and had a fleet of 20 aircraft, out of which 8 are currently operational.

Summary:
In a major relief for travelers, airlines have announced fixed fares during the festive season, ensuring flight ticket prices remain stable despite high demand.
