Amritpal Singh to Receive 54 Days Leave, Recommendation Sent

Chandigarh 11 march 2025 : The Parliamentary Committee has recommended granting a 54-day leave to Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh from the Khadoor Sahib constituency. This recommendation was made due to Amritpal Singh’s absence from the Lok Sabha sessions. Two applications were sent to the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding this matter.

It is noteworthy that Amritpal Singh has been imprisoned in Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail under the National Security Act (NSA) since 2023. Despite being incarcerated, he contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Khadoor Sahib seat and won. However, due to his imprisonment, he was unable to attend the Lok Sabha sessions. As a result, two applications were sent to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha requesting him to be granted leave. The Parliamentary Committee’s report on this matter will be presented to the Punjab and Haryana High Court by the Centre.
