Arrangements completed for Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Panchayat elections

Bathinda, December 20: The district administration has completed all necessary arrangements for the peaceful conduct of the general and by-elections for Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Panchayats, which are scheduled for December 21, 2024. This information was shared by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Sh. Shoqat Ahmad Pare.

The District Election Officer further informed that a total of 65,676 citizens from 39 different wards in the district will exercise their right to vote during the elections. This includes 32,002 men, 33,669 women, and 5 third-gender voters. The voting will take place on December 21, 2024, from 7 AM to 4 PM, and the results will be declared on the same day.

The District Election Officer also mentioned that there are 152 candidates from various wards contesting in the elections. These include 7 candidates from Ward No. 48 in Bathinda, 3 from Ward No. 9 in Goniaana, 10 from wards 3, 5, 8, and 10 in Lehra Muhabbat, 93 from wards 1-21 in Rampura Phul, 3 from Ward No. 2 in Kotha Guru, 3 from Ward No. 6 in Bhairupa, and 33 candidates from 10 different wards in Talwandi Sabo.

Additionally, District Election Officer (Development) S. Rupinder Pal Singh stated that in wards 6 of Nathana, 8 of Mehraj, 2 of Kotha Guru, and 5, 6, 9, 10, and 15 of Talwandi Sabo, candidates will be elected unopposed.

The additional District Election Officer mentioned that 65 polling booths have been set up for the 39 wards in Bathinda, Goniaana, Lehra Muhabbat, Rampura Phul, Bhairupa, Moad, and Talwandi Sabo. He also informed that around 450 election officials have been deployed for these elections.
