Arsenal Defeat Man U to Narrow Gap on Liverpool

Arsenal

London, December 5, 2024 (Navroze Bureau)- Arsenal recorded their fourth straight win over Manchester United for the first time with a 2-0 win at the Emirates Stadium thanks to goals from Jurien Timber and William Saliba.

Set pieces did the damage once again, with Jurion Timber turning in a Declan Rice delivery eight minutes from half-time to register his first goal for the club.

Arsenal doubled their lead in similar fashion, this time from the opposite side when Bukayo Saka’s back-post delivery was headed in by Thomas Partey, with William Saliba providing the final touch.

Kai Havartz almost put the hosts ahead but Onana thwarted him, with substitute Mikel Merino scoring from another corner moments later.

“Very happy, it was a special night in this amazing stadium. I think we deserved to win the game. We changed the team because of some injuries, but what energy there was in the stadium.

“We got into the second half and we changed a few things – the team was fantastic. The team needs every possible result to win the game – let’s keep it going,” Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said.
