Chandigarh, December 27, 2024 : The new year is approaching, and along with it, a new list of bank holidays has been prepared. According to the guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 15 days across the country in January 2025. These holidays will not be the same across all states. The holidays include national, local, and public holidays and may vary by state.
List of Bank Holidays for January 2025:
30th January: Sonam Lhosar
Banks will be closed in Sikkim for the Sonam Lhosar festival.
1st January: New Year’s Day
Banks will be closed in many states due to the New Year holiday.
2nd January: New Year and Manann Jayanti
Banks will be closed in Mizoram due to New Year and in Kerala due to Manann Jayanti.
5th January: Sunday
Weekly holiday for all banks.
6th January: Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti
Banks will be closed in Haryana and Punjab for Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Prakash Purab.
11th January: Second Saturday
Banks will remain closed nationwide due to the second Saturday of the month.
12th January: Sunday and Swami Vivekananda Jayanti
Sunday holiday for all banks, and also the observance of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti.
14th January: Makar Sankranti and Pongal
Banks will be closed in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu due to Makar Sankranti and Pongal.
15th January: Thiruvalluvar Day, Magh Bihu, and Makar Sankranti
These local festivals will be observed in Tamil Nadu, Assam, and other states.
16th January: Uzhavar Thirunal
Banks will be closed in Tamil Nadu for Uzhavar Thirunal.
19th January: Sunday
Weekly holiday for all banks.
22nd January: Imoin
Banks will be closed in Manipur for the Imoin festival.
23rd January: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti
Banks will be closed in Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Sikkim, West Bengal, Jammu-Kashmir, and Delhi on this day.
25th January: Fourth Saturday
Banks will be closed nationwide due to the fourth Saturday of the month.
26th January: Republic Day
All banks will remain closed across the country for Republic Day.
