Beas River in Spate Poses Danger as People Camp Near Dam

Kapurthala 19 Sep 2025: Important news for the residents of Punjab. Due to the continuously rising water levels in the Beas River, more than 30 feet of the road connecting the village of Kanmewal to the Advance Dhussi Dam has been submerged, cutting off the village from neighboring areas.

It is worth noting that in the past few days, people who had camped near the Dhussi Dam had returned to their homes. However, with the rising water levels, a large number of people are once again forced to stay in tarpaulin tents near the Advance Dam.

Due to the flooding, nearly 4,000 acres of crops in the villages of Baghuwal, Kanmewal, Chiragwala, Mand (Sabka Desal), and Jalalabad have already been destroyed. Even the fields that had dried up in recent days are now submerged under 2 to 3 feet of water.

Summary : The Beas River has risen dangerously, prompting warnings for locals. People camping near the dam are at risk, and authorities advise immediate caution and preventive measures.
