3 Oct 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously taking steps that are setting an example of development and empowerment for every section of society. In this series, Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Mr. Tarunpreet Singh Sondh today inaugurated “Pahil Mart” at the Punjab Civil Secretariat. This initiative has been launched by the Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM) with the aim of showcasing rural talent and making women economically self-reliant.
“Pahil Mart” is not just a marketplace but also a symbol of Punjab’s rich heritage and the hard work and creativity of rural women entrepreneurs. Here, women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) are directly reaching customers with their handmade products—Phulkari embroidery, Punjabi juttis, handcrafted suits, honey, pickles, squash, oils, spices, papads, soaps, preserves, and candles. This will not only provide them with economic benefits but also give their skills a wider recognition.
On this occasion, Minister Mr. Sondh said that this Mart is proof of the Punjab Government’s strong commitment to rural development and women empowerment. He emphasized that this platform will inspire thousands of rural women to stand on their own feet and give a new direction to their families and society.
During the inauguration, Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha, Administrative Secretary Ajit Balaji Joshi, and several senior officials were present. All expressed happiness that through “Pahil Mart”, the hard work and artistry of rural women will directly reach urban markets, giving them better opportunities.
This initiative of the Punjab Government will create a wave of economic progress, self-reliance, and social transformation in rural communities. It will not only secure livelihoods but also serve as a significant step toward sustainable development.
The launch of “Pahil Mart” further reinforces the fact that the Mann Government is fully committed to providing every Punjabi—especially women and rural communities—with a better and self-reliant future.
