28 Aug 2025 :In Punjab, heavy rainfall has been occurring continuously for the past several days, causing many areas to be affected by flooding. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has shared a major weather update for August 28 to August 31, according to which several parts of the state are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall initially.
The department has predicted that today, many parts of the state may see light rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds blowing at 30 to 40 km/h. The situation is expected to worsen tomorrow, August 29, as rainfall will cover large parts of Punjab. Heavy rain is likely in districts including Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, S.A.S. Nagar, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.
Similarly, on August 30, very heavy rainfall may occur in northern districts including Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, while other districts are likely to see moderate rain. According to the meteorological department, on August 31, good rainfall is expected in northern districts including Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Mohali, and S.A.S. Nagar.
The IMD has issued a warning for farmers and the general public to remain cautious during this period. Especially from August 29 to 31, heavy rainfall in northern Punjab districts may lead to waterlogging and flooding.
